I’m Self-Employed Now! Does That Mean I’m Narrowly Avoiding Eviction?

Published on 8:05 am by Chris Fullman

I’ll make this quick since I’m sitting in my hotel room on
a family vacation, but wanted to get my first Project 52 post taken
care of for the first week. This is also my first blog post under
my new company, Salted Slug! For those of you who don’t know me,
I’m Chris Fullman, a web developer based in Fort Lauderdale, FL,
and I’ve been doing this for a long time. I started during the dot
com bubble, had my share of layoffs and startup gigs, then ended up
at AgencyNet, my employer for the past ~6 and a half years. I’ve
worked for companies big and small since I got my first job at 15,
and for 2011, I wanted to make a change. I’ve handled just about
every aspect of a company over the years, and while I haven’t done
everything concurrently, there’s always a time to start. That
doesn’t mean I think it’s easy — on the contrary, I’m scared to
death — but I felt that now was my time to stop working for someone
else and to start working for myself instead. I’m sure the
challenges will be tough, and I’ll probably underestimate them at
first, but I’ve always landed on my feet in the past. Over the next
few months, I hope to catalog my journey as a new entrepreneur and
will be happy to share the details, even the bad ones. We learn
from sharing, and I believe that sharing is the best policy. Now,
I’m going to post this in the morning, enjoy my trip at Disney
World, and come back ready to rock this thing called
self-employment.
